The fast pace November - December

Well here it it Christmas Day, and I remembered after talking with a friend of mine, its been a while since I have updated.
November our favorite sport got back on the front plate, Hot burner and boy is it burning!!! Shad is wrestling 86 - 90lbs depending on where the team needs him and what the tournament has to offer. He has been very successful with some really great matches, overtime, wins and some losses. The first match of the season was awesome, I thought maybe he might be a lil rusty, guess again mom. All four kids ended up crying, in the scissors begging for the match to end, as I asked Shad what he thought as a first match. He smiled and said I learned so much at Elite Wrestling from the college wrestlers it's tremendous. . I smiled and definitely agreed, you could see it in his take downs and levels as he wrestled, and determination. I love that about him. Winning a state title is on his bucket list. Can't wait for the day to come Shad!!!
Most definitely we roped up and tied some calves in St.George, we didn't enter the bull riding because of our torn elbow. Dixon had some awesome runs both in the team roping and calf roping. Quinn and the twins did awesome as well. Its fun for me to see them all go do great after practicing with them. We videoed in the practice pen, when it was 40 below, trying to get a better flank and smoother runs. Great fun!!!
KyLeigh Jo has been staying busy with piano and tumbling as well as horses. This fall she gets her goat and break-away horse after school, rides them to Grandmas, puts them on the hot walker and goes in and practices the piano. Both Grandma's are smiling from ear to ear that she loves piano.
December has been crazy, Dixon, Shad and I went to Vegas. I left on the 28Th of November to set up with Burns Saddlery, and then the second week was the Double Dollar Horse Sale. Burns was exciting for me, Braydon and I ended up working saddles. Brayden is the general manager of the company and has so much knowledge on trees and leather and fit, so excited to expand my knowledge. We did great as a team and sold close to 20 before the show ended.
The 12Th annual Double Dollar Horse Sale, was such a great production, and a so rewarding. As the year unfolded and my responsibilities became heavier and heavier in Holden, the sale brought faces to names and people and great horses. It was a growing achievement for me, I announced the two days of previews and so so so enjoyed that. The sale was down from other years, but made lots of new friends and we all had a great time in Vegas!!
Christmas was by far the best ever. Dixon came home from the ranch, we spent time shopping together, laughing, trying on pants and shirts. He is such a handsome dude. And I almost forgot, he is headed to Panhandle State in Goodwell Oklahoma on a full ride scholarship. We are so tickled about that!!!
As Christmas unfolded this morning we took turns opening and talking. The kids all brought up some of their greatest achievements and things that were tough they had to work through. It took 2 hours and not so many presents, but a super awesome time. Growth continues to fascinate me with my children. They are wise beyond their years, they love with out end, work hard, smile alot and have the best attitudes ever. Once again this blog might just be about me being the luckiest mom ever!!!!
I am determined to be happy in whatever situation I may be- for I have learned from experience that the greater part of happiness or misery depends upon dispositions and not our circumstances.
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy Happy New Year, I can't wait to see what tommorow brings!!

This picture really makes me think of where does time go?

Before you speak, Listen; Before you write, Think; Before you spen. Earn; Before you invest, Investigate; Before you critize, Wait; Before you pray, Forgive; Before you quit, Try; Before you retire, Save; Before you die; Give. . .

I had this written in my workout journal some great advice. Life has taken some great twists and turns, Dixon turned 18, Shad was on a state Championship Football team, all three kids have grown, inside and out. They amaze me each day by how hard they work, how grateful they are, respectful, fun and encouraging they are to me,
I have been home and probably cussed more, but instead of turning into lazy stumps, they have pushed and pushed.
My life is rich, im thankful as this season comes up for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Count your blessings and look at life as a treasure. Maybe a diamond in the rough. Stive for perfection, smile when life seems dim, work harder than any one expects, see the good in every person. I thank God everyday for those talents i know i have and the ones im working on, thanks thanks thanks.,

Game - Vikings and Cowboys

So i had a crazy expeirence this past weekend, I had the opportunity to go to a Vikings game in Mineapolis!! Holy smokes I have never seen so many people driven by a sport. There were 61,000 people in the stadium. Purple and yellow it was endless. What a production, this was a great game, from start to finish.
Went down in the books as electic, I couldn't believe the energy in that arena. People for the most part were friendly, and we were dressed up like cowboys, so they never had any idea we were cheering for the vikings.
Was a little bit of a long weekend a way from home, but fun to see another part of the world.
Shad, KyLeigh and I roped steers tonight, that Lil Ky is starting to figure out the heeling she makes me laugh. Fun times, it rained and we were all soaked through and through. I love days like that, what a lucky mom i am to have two great lil kids.

Happy 18th Birthday

Well I never never thought today would come!!! 10-10-10, holy smokes. My baby chubby ten pound baby turned 18. Now he is six foot two and a handsome devil. I reflected today on so many things. Dixon is an astounding young man, driven by talent, passion and many other great attributes.
He decided to spend the year at the Double Dollar ranch in Holden, doing an internship and finishing school. When Dixon was little he would saddle this paint we had named tonto, he had a big long ladder he had taken off his swing set, he would put it next to the fence, throw every thing together, and use his big shoulders to cinch him up, he also had a pony spur that took the same abuse.
He had and still has a great imagination and it was fun for him he was a lonely only child until six. He grew up fast in a older group of friends, he and Joe rode sheep and calves, and horses and hay bales until dark, They would lope horses through the fields, tie up Josh until they knew he was going to kill them.
Dixon wrestled and wrestled, tournaments from hill to dale. Always been a great student and not much of a mommies boy.
I can't beleive how time has flown, we have had some rough times, me kicking his butt and sending him home, crying together, laughing together, him taking my money on long trips playing cards, riding colts, watching wrestling.

Heres to you buddy, a mothers love is deep, long and windy like a river. Its endless because it runs into the ocean or a lake. Sometimes the current takes you fast and other times it smooths out into a large body of water, just nestling you against the banks and pushing you into the next faze of life. I love you Dixon, I wish you the best, can't wait to be there when you win the world, hug your best girl, kick you in the butt, wait for those calls from college, laugh, and wait in the window till you pull in the drive way after a long spell. I wish you the world, I know you will be successful, happy birthday, thanks for the memories and the more that are on the way. love mom

team work

Team Work
I want to just take a minute and talk about a family who uses team work to win. We have been working hard the last couple of months, Dixon finished the fall season in Salina with a great day on Friday leading for the saddle, he won the bulls with a 75, 2nd in the team roping and 5th in the calf roping. Saturday wasn't as successful, our bull knocked us out, by butn heads, then we scrambled to get out of the way. With slow response, we ended up with a really hurt elbow. After physical therapy, we learned that we had torn the ligament off the inside of the bone, and it will take six to eight weeks to heel. No roping, or riding bulls. Luckily we are healthy other than that, with a good attitude.
Ky and Shad had state rodeo's on the first week of oct. They did great, Shad placed in all of his events exept chute dogn and ribbon roping. Kyleigh ran her fastest time ever in the barrels with an 18.7, she rode Fancy so good.
She and I have been going to a barrel racing jackpot every other monday, we have done ok and paid our dinner, fuel and fees. It's been time well spent and fun.
Shad has his semi final game this saturday, and then the championships next week. He has had a great season as a the middle linebacker. He loves it.
We listened to confrence, and learned some awesome ideas from some great councel this weekend. Team work, will win in the end, no matter what kind of rocks lucifer throws at us, we can build our sheilds and conquer him. My family is growing, Dixon will be eighteen sunday. That is so crazy for me to believe, time flys buy. He is a great young man, with loads of talents, and fun to be with.
Our house has been quiet since he has gone to do an internship at the Double dollar. We miss him in the mornings hogn all the pancakes.

I love it, I have seen it a few times and it moves me to tears each time. What a great attribute to have, no matter what comes our way we will stand for truth and rightesness!! Thanks for being such an amazing group of girls. Sister Winn

2010 CUJR SEASON IN THE BOOKS

Oh my goodness another season has passed us up. We finished our jr rodeo series on monday. We have had the best help ever. It is so fun to get together even if its a small group, we work hard, laugh hard, and bbq hard after its over. All of the kids did great, the stock was perfect and the day wasn't to warm.
The year end banquet will be coming up in October and we will give saddles, cash, buckles and prizes. Fun time guarenteed.
Work made me super happy today, we sent the Double Dollar catalog off to the printers and I don't have to stress about it. YEH! We have brought all the mares in and will trim feet, work teeth and be outside, I can't wait. . . enough of the computer for me!!
The kids are doing awesome, Shad is playing football and loving it, playing mostly middle linebacker, and kick off team. He loves to hit hard. There team is undefeated.
Dixon is busy in Holden, working, school, seminary and really loving it. He has tied some fast ones in the calves. He was a 8.7 in Hinckley and 10.1 in Rich which placed him first in both. He would of won vernal with a 9.1 but unfortunatly broke out. Bull riding and Team roping we are struggling a little. He continues strive for perfection and just needs to remember how much talent he has.
KyLeigh tied the fastest goat time of the season with a 14.1 in the short-go. She also tied a 15 in the long go. She has been running fancy the brown mare in the barrels, we went from a 33 to a 19 in less than 3 weeks. Watch out barrel racers. She is working on her swing in the break-away and team roping, and was a 25 in the poles on Shorty her pony., placing in the 5th grade and under rodeo.
Our extended kids are doing awesome, Marrissa and Jeremy are going to have a little girl soon, we are excited about that!!!
Life is good, and exciting. I made a commitment to a friend who has chewed since he was nine, that if he quit chewing i would run an extra mile each run day. Working towards 9 miles in 60 minutes, im getting there day by day. Rowdy has done awesome and hasn't had a chew for a month. Its hard im sure but that is just great.
It just goes to say we can acheive anything in our power if we really want it bad enough.
I love fall and all that it brings with it, those cool mornings and the colors on the mountain. Reminds me of harvesting grain, chasing elk and deer around the mountain side, gathering pastures, and halloween. What a great time to be alive, until next time keep your corners up and keep working hard!!!

2010 at $$

Great Sunday Message

Someone has said if Christians and Jews really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless. Did you know that during WWII there was an adviser to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every day at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England, its people and peace?

a great life

I have to say I let life get the best of me yesterday, I was suppose to be to Shad's football game last night in Mt.Pleasant. Not to my suprise i ended up working late, and didn't get to go. As I came home, I felt a little frustration, man those human tendancies are lame some times. As I saddled horses, moms who were at the game kept me updated. Shad had a great game. After riding I came home thinking how many dishes i had left in the sink, aaaaah wishing for a maid. To my surprise, the dishes were done, and there was my football player who i was sure would be disapointed in his mom with a big smile. He had done my dishes. Long story short, sure love my kids, and need to work on those dang human tendancies!!!

thought

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.

Great day today, we headed to Randolph, what a great drive,it had rained and was a bit hazy through the meadows. Man i love weather like that, the smell everything about it. We didn't do much other than win the calf roping, with a 10.1 just a nice solid run on a ok calf. Dixon is roping really good, just have to sharpen our skills in a few other areas. Back to the practice pen!!!

Busy Summer

Ok, summer is going to be a one day one post on the blog. We have been super busy, working and playing. Dixon has moved down to Holden, he is doing an internship on the $$ ranch. Finishing his high school year he is doing e high school with Quinn in the afternoon. Riding and roping all morning, he thinks he has died and gone to roping heaven.
Shad and Ky have started school and really like it so much. Shad is playing tackle football on and absolutely loves it!!! He plays on the recieving team, offense and defense. I am completly lost every play, man i need to study up on football. He does an awesome job.
We are high school rodeoing once again, headed to randolph at 4 am, gotta love that!!!! Everyone goes to Vernal next week for the 5th and under rodeo, 6-8 and high school rodeo. It will be crazy but fun!!!
I am spending lots of time in Holden, probably close to being a resident. Loving every minute of it.
So here comes fall and everything that comes with it, the smells, the weather, hunting trips, maybe some more roping, family time, and lots of hard work, life couldnt be any better!!!

Fun in the California Sun

Ok so I have a few minutes to write some thoughts. I have been going 9.0 for a while, and I am waiting on a phone call. So KyLeigh and I jumped in the $$ rig for an adventure. We took King, the ranches stallion to L.A.X. to fly to Hawaii!!
It was a good time, hot in the sun but we made it safely and helped him load on the airline.
After we drove to New Port Beach found a room, then met up with the Kemps. We had an unbeliavable fantastic time. First we had to go shopping to find a swim suit. It's one thing KyLeigh loves is to SHOP!!! I think she must come from another mother. She even had me in the dressing room trying on cute stuff. What a fun time. Off to the beach she is scared of not one thing!! Out into the waves she went, went Conner came they were being crazy on the boogie boards.
We played volleyball, laughed, told a few good stories. What a good time. Made it home safe and back to doing what we love. riding and roping keeping the running shoes warm!!! Good times at the Winn place. Dixon is spending the week with Joe in the basin, they are working hard, and have entered some ameutuer rodeo's over the 4th. Shad has Taylor Boren here., they have been at wrestling camp first of the week and then they are going to rope some days at the double dollar. KyLeigh has been helping Grandma and dad.

State Champion Bull Rider

Dixon Winn 2010 UHSRA State Champion Bull Rider!!! What an exciting week for the Winn bunch. Dixon had a successful state finals in all his events. His hard work has payed off and in the end, satisfaction. He posted a score in the first round of a 76, placing second next to Joe Frost who had an awesome ride of 82. Second round we rode forever!!! And I mean forever, the buzzer didn't ring and it was a trashy bull, Dixon ended up 71 and fifth in the round. Coming into the shortgo we had a lead of one point. He made the ride of his life on With Dr. into his hand and ended up with 81 points. Also winning the calf roping short-go and missing nationals by 3 points. Team roping we roped good in the first round and fell short in the second round, missing the short go. So proud of Dixon and for gritting his teeth and accomplishing his goals!!! So proud of all his good friends, for making some great rides and runs as well. here we come Gillette!!!

Determintaion is the wake up call to the human will

Little bit of time for some human reflection, still snowing on a great spring day in April here in Utah!! As a have been down the road the last month, I have really spent some personal time on becoming a better person. I have been reading a book by Anthony Robbins - Awaken the Giant Within. The only real time I give myself to read is while I'm driving or riding the bike at the gym.
The chapter this morning was a about goals, I have learned about asking questions, changing your metaphors, the ten emotions of power.
they are 1. love and warmth, 2. appreciation and gratitude, 3. excitement and passion, 4. determination, 5.flexibility, 7. confidence, 8.cheerfulness, 9. vitality, 10. contribution. We need to plant these emotions daily, and watch our lives grow with vitality like we have never seen before!!
I believe it, our lives are a gift, lets unwrap it everyday and see someone's expression change by the gifts we give.
Our family is doing well. Dixon is drawing near on his jr year, he is developing some excellent talents in so many areas. What a giant he has become. His talents are coming together. Shad has had an extraordinary year as a fifth grader, the wrestling program at UVU really helped him become better in lots of avenues of his life.
KyLeigh Jo was baptized recently and what a wonderful blessing she is to our little family.
I have been working in Holden for Greg Kesler, it has been a super experience for me, they have some great opportunities and some really good boys who are working their as well. My life is rich, preparing to run a half marathon before summer and a full marathon by the end of the year. Learning to swim, continue to work on my horsemanship and heading skills, in ten years i will be a number 8. Pull your boot straps up, cant wait!!

STATE CHAMPION ALL-AROUND COWBOY

St.George finished up the 5th and under rodeo's for the year. Shad had a successful year, winning 7 out of the 8 All-Around titles throughout the year. Last weekend he won the Utah State All-Around Champion Cowboy, as well as the team roping and goat tying state titles. Placing 2nd in the steer riding, barrel racing, 5th in break-away and 4th in the pole bending.
It was a fun weekend, he won all three rounds of the goats, tying his fastest time yet of a 10.6, even after falling down and bouncing!! Fancy ran some great times in the barrel racing, which has been exciting for all. We have been working hard on getting to be consistent.
The kids have really been working hard at their goals and dreams. Most days before I get home from work they are saddled and ready to roll!!
KyLeigh had a great weekend as well. She finished just out of the top ten in the barrels, poles and goats. Only 1 point from making the short-go in the goats. She had a great get off on Friday and tied 18 both days. She and Shorty ran a 24 in the poles, which is smoking fast!!
This weekend High School starts up and we will be on our way to Ogden. Dixon will compete in the team roping, calf roping and bull riding. He also has spent lots of time, preparing and is excited.
Shad will continue to wrestle with UVU college team, until freestyle state. He loves that and has some awesome coaches!!
Casy and I are really enjoying our kids and family. KyLeigh turned 8 on Monday and will be baptized on April 10, in Idaho with her cousin.

lessons in life

One has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much!
Casy's birthday was this week, so we met up for a hot date!!!!Lots of fun, we went to Outback Steakhouse, then hung out in the chairs and read books at Barns and Noble. Don't pass out, then we went and watched a basketball game together. We laughed, lived well and loved much.
Life is busy as usual. I have been going to Holden and giving riding lessons, to a great lady. She has had some experience riding before, but just wants to get better. Kayleen has a great attitude about work, life and just everything in between. A sheer joy it has been to help her get better. She improves so much each day, that soon I will be taking lessons from her. What a joy it has been.
Along side giving lessons, I have been getting heading lessons. I've been looking to improve my roping skills and horsemanship as well. Sore muscles, lots of laughing, and a goal in mind. Each day I feel like I am improving, practice, practice, practice!!! Got to love that, can't wait to get all the picture together and perfect it.

Joseph will sing Reflections of Christ

When in Arizona I had some time to spend, with my good friend, Joseph! I was able to go stay with his family, and enjoy their company. What a treat! Joseph is just like a big brother to me. He spent two days, helping with my team roping.
This weekend Joseph will sing this song in his sacrament meeting. What a great opportunity, I so wish I could be there.
Knowing Joseph for about 7 years, he has taught me much, to love, to laugh, to have a deeper testimony of the savior. What a great thing to have such a friend. He has sacrificed much to be better at everything he does!! Of friendship with him he has made me realize how we should enjoy life, and everything we do.
Thanks Joseph for teaching me so much!!

February - a whole new month!

Well there goes January and in comes Febraury!!! Hard to believe that its over, and we are in the second month of the year. Not sure if the ground hog saw his shadow or not. I'm just hoping for warmer weather and less snow. We drove into town last Monday, in time for some horses and laundry, more laundry and State Jr.High Wrestling. The Juab Jr.High team earned 3rd place over all in 3 A. The coaches were sure proud of all the boys, and Juab also had some state champions crowned!!!
Shad worked hard, wrestled one match on Friday night and a bye. He pinned his first opponent in 40 seconds, and was victorious. The next morning we met the #1 ranked kid in the 76 weight pound bracket. Tough match, Shad lasted out all three and lost by 8 points. Our next match we won in the third round by 6 points. Our last match of the day was against our rival Millard. A boy we play chase with, he win's sometimes and we win sometimes. This day we fell short of a win and out the placing rounds by 1 point. Shad was dissapointed and frustrated. I am really proud of him, for his effort. He never stopped working during this match, shooting every shot possible until the whistle blew.
Determination is a great charicteristic to have. You have to be determined to be able to win and excell. Congrats to Shad for busting his butt all year. And my friend 7th out of 32 is not to bad!!
Dixon wrestled a great match at home against Manti on Thursday winning 5 to 1. Then Friday and Saturday he traveled to North Sanpete, he lost in the varsity tournament but won champioinship on saturday and the second chance tournament.
KyLeigh and Shad had parent teacher confrence last week. Both are great students and learning and growing. KyLeigh is on a 6th grade reading level, and loving every minute of it. Finally Casy has a little book nerd just like him!!1
Arizona was a great trip, thanks to Burns for the opportunity. I love to go and sell such great products for them. What a great company and team of people.
Back to the grind of catching up at home, getting taxes done, working on family orginization. we have started scripture study in the mornings at 6:30, successful so far and the kids seem to be intent on learning the Book Of Mormon. Dixon is working on getting his patriartical blessing and rodeo season is fast approaching.
So pull your boot straps up and your hat down. Here goes another eventful year for the WILD WINN BUNCH!!!!

Winners!!!

Congratulations to the Juab Jr High Wrestling team for winning Region!!! Takes great leaders to inspire boys to win!!! Congratulations. Shad finished third this year at region, he turns eleven on Sunday. Thats hard to imagine that he is almost a teen ager!!!
Dixon has done well wrestling to. The boys are working hard and its paying off. We spent New Years in Buckyeye, Arizona, roping, riding, riding bulls and working a little. We so so so enjoyed the sunshine!
KyLeigh won every day in the pee wee barrel race on tip up. She won enough money to buy some new bling bling flip flops, she was excited!!! A couple of moms commented on what a great rider she was and how she really had to ride the mare to get her through the pattern. Go KyLeigh Jo!!!
She jumped in the trailer again when I said I was headed south again. We once again are enjoying the 70 degree weather.
We will be home in a couple of weeks, so if you are in the cold we will think warm thoughts for you.
